A fierce gun battle has started between suspected militants and government forces in Saimu Tral, on Saturday in Southern Kashmir Pulwama District.
Earlier on Friday night, police said, suspected militants fired upon a patrolling party that triggered encounter.
“Encounter started at Saimu Tral district Awantipur,” Director General of Police, Shesh Paul Vaid tweeted adding that three militants are believed to be trapped in.

Soon after, police officials said, siege was laid around the village and forces cordoned off the village for entire night. However, no exchange of fire was reported till morning.
However, police said that, militants opened on fire from the place which is cordoned off and encounter has raged.
Sources also said that, during night two houses have suffered damage, due to fire. However, police did not confirm the reason of damage to these residential houses.
Meanwhile, reports said that clashes have erupted in nearby villages, as people are attempting to break forces cordon in an attempt to help the trapped militants flee.
Tensions have gripped in the Tral belt as news of top militants trapped in the encounter is being spread locally.
