Take brave steps and act as a statesman: Hurriyat (G) to Modi

Srinagar: Reacting to the visit of Prime Minister Narinder Modi and inauguration of Nashri Tunnel, Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said the construction of roads or inaugurations of tunnels are of lesser importance; however, it is hard to come to the expectations and accept hard realities.

“Kashmir issue is serious and sensitive political issue as such extraordinary & exemplary courage is needed to resolve Kashmir issue,” Hurriyat (G) said in a statement.

The spokesman said that “today’s shutdown is an eye-opener & serve message that Kashmir issue can’t be solved or shelved through the cosmetic approach.”

Asking PM Modi to take brave steps and act as statesman, saying this will pave way for overall development in India & peace in subcontinent. “It will prove helpful for south Asia and India too will get ride from many complex problems facing at home, Hurriyat (G) asserted that the world has changed into a global village & Improving connectivity through roads and tunnels is a good idea, however they no more serve any purpose to political and human issues.

Hurriyat said it is better for Indian authorities to shun their rigid approach, face reality and help resolve the Kashmir issue as human race has touched the extreme level for reasoning and no power on earth can suppress their yearning for honor and freedom.

Referring to Nashri tunnel, Hurriyat (G) said no doubt it is good step however, it won’t help or serve any substitute for aspirations of youth. “Taking into consideration the yearning for freedom & our struggle since last 70 years, all these exercises will prove futile to change the course, we have been pursuing since long,” read the statement.

Referring to the present young generation and their aspiration, Hurriyat (G) said that right to self-determination granted to people in East Timor, South Sudan, Scotland Yard has rejuvenated and infused their sprits for pursuing their right of freedom in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Hurriyat (G) said that people and youth are very serious about right to self-determination.

“All these construction works were carried since long, however nothing has changed and instead situations turned more grim and serious. Terming the Kashmir issue serious and unpredictable, Hurriyat (G) said that Kashmir issue is the main reason for instability and sense of uncertainty haunts throughout whole subcontinent.

Giving two options to Modi, Hurriyat (G) said “Modi has two options, either to follow his predecessors with folded eyes or as statesman make history by taking bold steps.” “There is nothing extra ordinary in opening roads, anybody can throw open these tracks and tunnels, however realizing realities and using wisdom for resolution, need extraordinary willpower and determination.”

Thanking people for observing shutdown, Hurriyat said that it proved beyond any doubt that people in state have always professed their verdict and conveyed message that they will never succumb to pressure and people of state are pursuing their right to self-determination and will continue till the issue is resolved as per their aspirations”, statement reads.
