National Conference (NC) General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday said that the current lull in Kashmir is deceptive and things can’t come on track till New Delhi doesn’t engage separatist leaders in dialogue.
Sagar told local news agency CNS that it is high time for the government of India to talk to Hurriyat leaders and find an amicable solution to the long pending Kashmir problem.
“Unfortunately state government has been dancing on the tunes of central government that monitor everything here. The incumbent government is a puppet in the hands of New Delhi that can’t take a single decision on its own. Now central government should initiate the process and talk to the stake-holders here before situation gets out of hand,” he said.
“The calm in Kashmir is deceptive. Thousands are languishing in jails. Shutdown continues. Protests and encounters are the order of the day and still if the state government believes that all is well in Kashmir then nobody can save this government,” he said.
Sagar further said that government should release all the prisoners mostly youth from Jails and an inquiry should be initiated to probe the 90 plus killings.
