With eight months over of current fiscal (2016-17), government Under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) have spent only 17.31 crore out of total availability of Rs 37.83 cr. This was revealed in a meeting held by Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq in Jammu on Monday.
Giving details of this project, 42000 Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) have been constructed this year.
Further under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna (PMAY), the department has achieved 48.97 per cent target by spending Rs 10.39 crore out of the available budget of Rs 21.21 crore.
The maiden meeting of the State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (SLVMC) which was constituted in August this year to oversee and ensure effective implementation of various schemes of the Union Ministry of Rural Development in the State further revealed that under MGNREGA, the department has achieved 43% as 27285 works have been completed out of 64149 works taken up. “Under the scheme the government has been able to provide jobs to 10.40 lakh youth which include 3.86 lakh women and 5953 differently abled persons.”
In Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), the department has treated 71060 hectares of land comprising of 446 water micro sheds while under PMKSY 219 schemes have been completed till March 2016.
The meeting was further informed that the education department has spent Rs 903.78 crore under SSA, out of the total available budget of Rs 991.45 crore.
Earlier Abdul Haq inaugurated the renovated Panchayat Bhavan and the attached conference hall at Rail Head Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Haq said SLVMC is an effective platform for ensuring transparency, participation, consultation and accountability in implementation of developmental programmes which has been the priority of the coalition government lead by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
