National conference working president and former CM Omar Abdullah Sunday termed cashless economy as a “totally unrealistic idea”.
Tech savy Omar tweeted, “Imagine asking people in Gurez, Karnah, Keran and other remote areas to dispense with cash! Totally unrealistic idea.”
Omar however said he would love to move to a cashless economy but immediately raised doubts over the Internet connectivity — which had remained shut for nearly four months in valley.
“I would love to move to a cashless economy but given the reliability of connectivity in J&K and the absence of points of sale, I fear, I would starve,” Omar tweeted.
A series of tweets from Omar were a response to the idea of having a “cashless economy” proposed by Narendra Modi government.
