Border Security Forces Tuesday said that it foiled an infiltration bid when a group of militants tried to sneak in through the International Border near a border outpost in Samba district of Jammu, killing three militants.

Reports said that the three militants were killed following a “heavy exchange of fire” with the Border Security Force (BSF).

“The firing is over and the area is being sanitised.”

ANI reported that the BSF noticed some suspicious movement in the general area of Border outpost Chamliyal in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir. The area was immediately cordoned off. When challenged, BSF patrol was fired upon by “miscreants” holed up in a tube well pumphouse.

Other media reports said that a BSF jawan was injured in the gunbattle with the group of militants.

The infiltration bid on the border in Jammu came amid a fierce gunbattle between security forces and heavily armed militants who opened fire on an army camp in the garrison town of Nagrota near Jammu.
