War Of Words Between Indo-Pak Defence Ministers

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Amid the ongoing clashes between India and Pakistan forces on International Border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu Division, the defence ministers of both the countries issued statements against each other fuelling more tension.

According to GNS, the Indian defence minister Arun Jaitley warned Pakistan and said: “Pakistan, in these attacks, has clearly been the aggressor. But it must realize that our deterrence will be credible,” he said, adding: “If Pakistan persists with this adventurism, our forces will make the cost of this adventurism unaffordable.”

Jaitley termed the firing incidents at IB and LoC as ‘unprovoked’. “In the last few days, there have been a series of ceasefire violations, all unprovoked by Pakistan. These have mostly been on the International Border and some have been at the Line of Control also. The International Border has never been an issue at all and most of these violations are occurring at the IB,” he said in a statement.

“India is a responsible State. It is never an aggressor but at the same time it has a paramount duty to defend its people and its territory. Our armed forces, particularly the army and the BSF in this case, have only one option that is to respond adequately and defend our territory and our people. “He hailed the Indian forces and said they have been doing a ‘commendable job in the face of these unprovoked acts of aggression by Pakistan’.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan defence Minister Khawaja Asif said Pakistan is fully capable to respond to any ‘Indian aggression’.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Pakistan Defense Minister said we do not want to convert border tension between two nuclear neighbors into a confrontation. He said India should act in a responsible manner.
