SRINAGAR
Anti-Coalition Government slogans reverberated inside Civil Secretariat Srinagar after scores of daily-wagers working in different Government departments resorted to sloganeering outside Higher Education Ministers cabinet. The daily-wagers alleged that Higher Education Minister Muhammad Akbar Lone not only misbehaved with them but also told them categorically that he will not allow Government to accord sanction for their regularization till his own men are not put in list.
Reports said that scores of daily wagers had arrived in Civil Secretariat Srinagar on Friday as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was scheduled to preside a meeting of Ministers in which the decision about the regularization of daily wagers was to given a final touch.
However, reports said that except, Chief Minister and few odd Ministers, most of them were absent and could not attend the meeting; as a result the meeting could not take place.
Annoyed by the government decision not to hold meeting, the daily wagers entered into the cabin of Higher Education Minister Muhammad Akbar Lone to enquire about their fate.
“Instead of responding to our queries, the Minister argued and misbehaved with us. Before directing his security staff to drag us out from the cabin, the Minister shouted that no regularization policy will be implemented till his own selected supporters are not put in the list,” PHE Employees Workers Union president Sajad Ahmed Parrey told CNS adding that he was injured after Secretariat security personnel charged them with canes.
Another daily-wager Muhammad Sarwar from Tourism department said that it is irony that instead of attending meeting, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather was enjoying feast in one of his friends’ residence in his constituency.
“Most of the Ministers were absent and we fail to understand why they stayed away from this important meeting,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts Higher Education Minister could not be contacted.
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir had hinted that it is all set to regularize the services of around 40,000 daily-wagers working in different departments. State government had asked the various departments to submit the information of the daily-wagers till June 30. The state finance department had cleared 56213 cases against the total number of 59594 cases, they added.
