With weather conditions worsening, the state government has asked deputy commissioners of flood affected districts to identify the safer places for shifting flood victims.
According to the reports received by KNS, in view of the prevailing cold weather conditions in flood hit valley, adding miseries to the already flood affected lot, the government has directed the deputy commissioners to speed up the activities in identifying the safer places for the relocation of the victims.
The government order is also likely to way for the early closing of schools in Kashmir division, as according to sources, the government run schools are turning out to be a viable option to shift people whose shelters were damaged due to September’s ravaging floods.
Reports also maintained that after the thorough checks carried out by the district administrations, school buildings are likely to be utilized for the purpose of relocating the flood victims.
Meanwhile, talking to KNS, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Rohit Kansal confirmed that the government has directed the deputy commissioners to identify the places in their respective districts wherein flood victims who have lost their houses could be shifted during the winter months. He also maintained 500 pre fabricated structures are being made available in a bid to provide relief to the already perturbed flood affected. (
