80,000 posts still vacant with Govt

The promise of state government to fill up of the 80,000 posts, lying vacant with different government departments remained unfulfilled, disappointing thousands of unemployed youth in the state.


Interestingly, the government through various advertisements for the filling up of the posts had earned more than Rs 20 crore from the unemployed youth as the form fee in the past but the snail’s pace recruitment process acted as spoilsport with the posts unfilled and youth in dilemma over their future.


The chief minister Omar Abdullah on January 6, 2013 stated that as many as 80,000 educated youth will be provided government jobs by fast track recruitment through service selection agencies within next some months.


Government later received more than 10 lakh applications for 11830 posts in last five years and the amount of fee collected from these applications is more than Rs 20 crore.


Also according to the reports, a total number of 102574 applications were received by the government from 2010 to 2014. In 2010, a total of 197542 OMR forms were received while as 162385 forms in 2011, have been submitted by the aspirants. Reports also maintained that 43275 OMR forms were received in 2012, and in 2013 there were 613278 forms submitted. During the ongoing year 8794 have been so far submitted.


Reports informed that even at present more than 37000 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant in various departments in direct category with 5778 gazetted posts for direct recruitment are also vacant.


The government has also more than 13000 posts of class-IV employees vacant in various departments.


In a promotional quota, the government has reported as many as 16000 vacancies in non-gazetted cadre and 1379 in gazetted cadre apart from 1379 class fourth posts.


The higher education and school education departments have 2109 and 1515 vacancies in gazetted cadre respectively and school education in non gazetted cadre having 12372 vacant posts followed by Home 6678, finance 2042 and forest 1848. The total number of gazetted and non-gazetted vacant posts in education department is 22894 followed by Home department 9019.
