Police Arrest 2 youth, Army Detains Imam

Two youths have been arrested by police on the charges of stone-throwing here in summer capital of Srinagar, and army detained an Imam in Shopian, sources said Thursday.


Sources told GNS that policemen from MR Gunj police station in Old City arrested two youths from Habba Kadal.


The sources identified the youths as Owais Ahmad Hazari, son of Muhammad Ismail, residence of Habba Kadal and Mubashir Qadir Najar, son of Ghulam Najar, residence of Waghama Bijbhera, who was presently residing at Habba Kadal.


Meanwhile, army picked up an Imam from Trenz village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, official sources said Thursday.


They said that army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles during a raid detained Altaf Hussain Shah from Trenz village in Khurampura area in the district.


Altaf, who according to sources, is an Imam and is also running a Darsgah Taleem-ul-Quran in the area.


“Initially two different identity cards were recovered from his possession,” they said. Altaf, a resident of Rajouri has been questioned, they added.
