In last three year out of 72 recommendations made by State Human Rights Commission, Government has rejected 50 cases and deferred nine others.
“During last three years, 72 cases /recommendations have been received from the Commission,” Government revealed in written reply in Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. “Out of these, 70 cases were placed before the Empowered Committee constituted vide Government Order No 905 of 2008 dated 31-12-2008 to consider the recommendations of the Commission.”
However the recommendation in only 11 cases was accepted by the Empowerment committee. 50 cases were not accepted, nine were deferred, the documents reveal. Besides, two recommendations are yet under examination.
Stating in a written reply on Wednesday it states that there has been 7319 cases total number of cases commission has received since its inception.
The documents also reveal that the commission has made its recommendation in 1712 cases since inception and the total number of cases disposed of by the commission is 5755.
Meanwhile, while replying on the status of complaints pending disposal in SHRC with regard to compensation against the forced labor by Army during 1990 to 2003, the documents state that the jurisdiction of Commission was challenged by J&K High court and got stayed.
