Srinagar
Forces have launched a massive hunt to nab residents of Palhallan by establishing nakas and have started searching passenger vehicles around the area resulting in caging of a huge population.
Reports quoting sources said that every passenger vehicle is being checked near SOG camp Pattan and near Hygam Sopore, and if any resident of Palhallan is found he is being detained.
Forces have started searching for Palhalan residents after massive stone pelting some ten days back which failed a search operation, reports quoting sources said.
“Police have started a manhunt to arrest some youths of the area who are involved in stone pelting cases. Since the Palhalan people create law and order problem as and when forces enter the area so police are keeping a close vigil on the wanted youth and efforts are on to limit those youths to their own area,” reports said.
Locals alleged “this has turned Palhalan into a real Gaza”.
Police and forces have established two or three nakas around the area to limit the people’s movement. This according to sources has enabled forces to check every person leaving or entering Palhallan.
Local sources alleged that police and forces have even started searching for Palhallan people in Pattan hospital.
They said that two elderly persons were arrested from the said hospital recently who were there to see a doctor.
“It has now become difficult for the residents of Palhallan to venture out of the village, because of threat of being arrested,” a Palhallan resident was quoted by a local newspaper.
However, when contacted, a top police official has rejected the allegations.
