Anganwari workers of Islamabad district hold protests

Umar Khurshid

Islamabad: Anganwari workers of district Islamabad associated with Jammu and Kashmir helpers association on Saturday held a protest demonstration demanding their pending salaries.

Scores of women assembled near DC office Islamabad and hampered the traffic movement for hours raising “anti-government” slogans.

The aggrieved workers said that the government is yet to release their pending salaries.

Haseena Sofi, President of Anganwari Centers Islamabad, said, they haven’t got their salaries for last eight months and as compared to other states Kashmir has been discriminated by the officials. “Other states of India are getting incentives and bonuses every year but we don’t even get basic wages.”
