Srinagar: Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed on Tuesday for vehicular traffic after it was blocked by the massive landslide in the Mehad Nallah area of Ramban sector late yesterday evening, reports said.
A senior traffic department official said that road clearance work has been commenced this morning and will take at least 14 hours to clear the landslide debris.
The weather has remained almost dry in Kashmir with sunshine during past week though the night temperature remained below freezing point at majority of the places.
MeT department has predicted light rain or snow likely to occur during next two to three days in Kashmir Valley under the influence of fresh Western Disturbance currently active in the region.
In view of the weather and road conditions, the one way traffic is being presently allowed on the Srinagar Jammu highway for smooth and safe vehicular movement.
