In protest, people keep slain Fisheries guard’s body on road

Thousands of people are protesting on the main road in Vessu over the killing of fisheries guard. They are seeking immediate explanation about why his body was delivered at his home almost naked.

Reports reaching from Kulgam said that an ambulance drove the body of Assadullah Kumar home. Apart from two bullets, the family said the body bore torture marks on his body. Besides, they said, they are unable to understand why the body was dropped at home almost nude.

Within minutes after the body was driven home, the entire locality assembled at his residence. They took him out of his home in protest and kept the body at the main road on Vessu. They are demand certain explanations from the government, the employer of Kumhar.

Though the local Congress MLA Mohammad Amin Bhat is already in the village, it has not helped cool the tempers. Instead, the people are asking the local administration to visit the village and address the grievances.

Kumar was on duty when a cordon was in place during which he was killed. Locals accuse of army of killing the government official.
