Aribal Srinagar residents appeal authorities to make basic facilities available at UHC

The locals of Aribal Shalimar area of Srinagar Tuesday staged demonstration against the government for ‘not making the basic facilities available in the Urban Health Centre (UHC), situated in the area.

The protesters assembled outside the UHC and chanted slogans against the department.

Ali Muhammad, a protester said that the centre was set up by the authorities in 2008 but since then they failed to upgrade the centre.

“We have been forced to face hardships as there is no doctor available in the centre while the basic facilities like X-ray machines, other basic equipments have not been made available,” he said.

He said that besides, the government even failed to provide an ambulance to the centre. “The tests recommended by the doctors are also not being conducted at the centre,” he said.

Patients who are visiting the centre for treatment also lamented that they have been left to face tremendous hardships as the authorities failed to make basic facilities available in the centre.

The protesters later urged the higher ups of the department to look into their hardships and redress their genuine grievances as soon as possible.
