In the backdrop of Pakistan’s diplomatic campaign against Delhi, it is the turn of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan. The PTI chief has written to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon seeking action against India for attacks on LoC, Pakistani newspaper The Nation reported.

In the letter, Khan has talked about the “use of violence and lethal weapons” against unarmed civi

lians in J&K as well.

The decision to write to UN was taken by PTI in its Bani Gala meeting.

“Excellency, you are aware that Kashmir is an issue on the Security Council agenda and the UN continues to have Observers for Kashmir [UNMOGIP]. India’s continuing refusal to allow UNMOGIP on its side of the LoC and its persistent refusal to allow UN human rights observers into Kashmir is a clear violation of the UN Charter,” the letter stated.

Imran has said that attacks by Indian side have increased in intensity and frequency and targets are civilians, including travellers in civilian buses. “India has now gone beyond all norms of international state interaction even when states are in a warlike situation -as it has attacked an ambulance with clear markings. This increasing targeting of innocent civilians and ambulances is against all norms of international law including the laws of war,” the letter adds.

The letter reminded Ban that both Pakistan and India were nuclear weapon states and India’s increasing military attacks against Pakistan presented a serious threat to regional peace and security.

“It is your duty as secretary general to ensure peace and security and enforcement of all norms of international law,” the letter said. He has asked the UN secretary-general to use his good offices and ask India to allow UNMOGIP observers on the Indian side of the LoC.
