Condemning the incidents of attack on doctors and their vehicles, President,Doctors Association Kashmir, Dr G M Mir Friday expressed serious concern over the issue of harassing the doctors while going to duties.
“The vehicles of various doctors have been damaged recently in different corners of the valley which has not only resulted in huge damage to the vehicles but some doctors have even got injured. These unjustified attacks need to be condemned by one and all,” Dr Mir said in a statement.
In his appeal to allow doctors move freely, Dr Mir said, “I appeal all the concerned to use their good offices and see to it that doctors are allowed to move freely so that they can reach to the hospitals without any problems.”
“Yesterday a group of miscreants damaged the vehicle of Dr A G Raina at Newa, Pulwama while he was coming back after discharging his professional duties at Zainapra, Shopian,” he added.
He in statement further said that “it is in place to mention here that doctors were forced to use their own vehicles after the govt. refused to provide the ambulances to the staff which obviously was a safer option. People have to understand that doctors do not venture out of their homes for joyrides but only come out to treat the sick which needs to be appreciated rather being ridiculed.”
Appreciating the cooperation of general public, Dr Mir said, “few unscrupulous elements working against the interests of community in general are the perpetuators of these attacks. We appeal the elders in the society to identify these rogue elements and see to it they are not allowed to succeed in their sinister designs.”
In his appeal to government Dr Mir asked for the transport service, “we once again appeal the government to provide transport facilities to Medical and Paramedical staff so that their lives are not put at risk and if Govt. fails to do so,all the responsibility will lie with the state.”
