J&K Police on Thursday late evening said an auto rickshaw was set ablaze in Islamabad district of South Kashmir.
“Miscreants in order to discourage the public transport from plying, set ablaze an auto rickshaw belonging to Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Doonipawa, Islamabad on K P Road near Al Sarwat Crossing,” police spokesperson said in a statement issued as late as 08:30 PM.
“Due to timely action by police fire was brought under control. An FIR under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Mattan to identify and arrest the culprits,” the statement added.
The police spokesperson further said, “today evening at 1920 Hrs, some miscreants, in order to intimidate the civilians and to discourage the private transport from plying, pelted stones upon the vehicular traffic at Lal Chowk, Islamabad in which one lady Tasleema Begum, wife of Ali Mohammad, Sheikh resident of Seepora, Islamabad received injury on the left side of her face.”
The injured has been shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment, it added.
Police have taken cognizance and registered a case under relevant sections of law to identify and arrest the “culprits”.
