Scores of youth blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway at Laway Pora in Srinagar on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that some youth blocked the highway near Umar Abad and resorted to stone pelting and damaged the vehicles.
There was relaxation in shutdown from 5 pm today, however, due to clashes in Soura area of Srinagar, many parts in Kashmir did not open.
Later, police men came and fired a few tear gas shells and they fled from the highway. Many vehicles were stranded on the highway.
In Batamaloo and Safakadal areas, minor stone pelting incidents were also reported this evening.
Meanwhile, in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, forces resorted to aerial firing after clashes erupted in Naira village.
Reports said that the clashes followed after forces had laid cordon and search operation in the village.
In the central Kashmir’s Ganderbal a scheduled freedom rally was foiled by forces.
The rally was scheduled to be held in Sherpathri area, as per the proposed program by the joint resistance camp.
The reports said that forces had laid massive restrictions in the area and large number of men in uniform was deployed to prevent movement of the people.
Three youth were also reportedly arrested near Hakim-Gund area after a minor stone pelting incident in the area.
