The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre on Saturday showcased its latest batch of 190 recruits from J&K who completed year long strenuous training at the Bana Singh Parade Ground and entered army formally.
The Passing Out Parade was reviewed by Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma, who is the Director General of Operational Logistic & Strategic Movement in Army HQ and was attended by over 1500 parents and relatives of the young soldiers.
A defence spokesman said the soldiers of the Regiment hail from all regions and religions of J&K. After singing their regimental song Balidanam Veer Lakshnam, they saluted to the tri-colour with national anthem playing.
Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma congratulated the soldiers for their immaculate parade and impressed upon selfless service towards the nation. He praised their contribution towards encouraging more youth from J&K to come forward to join the security forces & also highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession.
The young soldiers who distinguished themselves in varied facets of training were also felicitated by the Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma. Recruit Mukesh Kumar received the Sher-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour & Triveni Singh Medal for being adjudged ‘Over all Best Rect’ and Recruit Lal Hussain bagged the Chewang Rinchen Medal for being ‘Best in Firing’.
A similar function was reported from Leh in the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre. There, 52 recruits of Ladakh Scouts Regiment began their lifetime journey as soldiers.
The defence spokesman said impressive ceremony was reviewed by Colonel TPS Consel, Deputy Commander, Headquarters Chushul Brigade and was attended by Civil and service dignitaries and parents of recruits. The young Nunnus, hailing from all regions of Ladakh took oath in unison to serve for the supreme cause of the nation.
Colonel TPS Consel congratulated the young soldiers for the march past and urged them to devote their life in service to the nation. The young Riflemen were awarded different prizes for their outstanding performance during the training.
