For about 30 hours people who were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar are stranded in their vehicles in the Nashri Ramban strip after massive unprecedented landslides.

A hillock came down four kilometers ahead of Ramban at quarter to nine on Thursday resulting in the complete halt of traffic on the only road link to valley.

The traffic has been closed on both sides and men and machinery is working from yesterday morning to clear the road, said a top cop of Traffic Police.

DSP Ramban, while speaking with Kashmir Life said , my team is monitoring the clearing process for entire night and we are hopeful of breakthrough in couple of hours.

Thousands of people spend night in the vehicles in the chilly weather without any arrangement.

Some passengers while speaking with Kashmir Life said, they have not eaten anything from last night and the situation is worse.

This type of massive halt on the road has not been witnessed in the recent years.

While the MeT department has predicted wet weather in next 24 hours, it will be crucial to clear the way.
