Football sized ovarian cyst removed from a pregnant lady

A team of doctors at Gynaecology & Obstetrics unit of Mother & Child (MCH) Hospital, in Islamabad district, performed a rare surgery last Saturday on a five-month pregnant woman, removing a football sized ovarian cyst (Dysgerminoma) from her womb.

The surgery was performed by an operative team consisting of Dr Mehraj Baktawar (Consultant Gynaecologist), Dr Hilal Ahmed (Anesthetist), Farooq Ahmad (OT  Technician) and Rafiq Ahmad (Anesthesia Technician), under the logistic support of Dr G M Bhat (Deputy Medical Superintendent, MCH Islamabad).

According to doctors, the patient is doing well post-surgery and has been discharged.

Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman has also congratulated CMO Islamabad, Hospital Administration and the operative team for achieving this feat.
