Condemning the government for putting curbs on the opposition, state congress chief GA Mir Saturday claimed that slain Sajad Ahmad Malik was under strenuous pressure to work for the ruling PDP, a party statement issued here read.
Mir, according to the statement, blamed government for the killing of Sajad.
Mir said, “The unnecessary restrictions on our movement vindicates our claim regarding killing of former Sarpanch and Congress party will continue to fight against “innocent killings and barbarism”.
Meanwhile, the statement said that a Congress delegation led by JKPCC Chief GA Mir was Saturday barred from visiting Batagund Dooru and meeting the family of former Sarpanch Sajad Ahmad Malik, who was killed a day before yesterday.
“Earlier GA Mir led by Senior Congress Leaders were stopped at Jawahar Tunnel by the Police, but they managed to reach Umoo Verinag, where from they were not allowed to move towards Batagund. The PCC Chief was not allowed to sit at his residence Umoo, which is highly unfortunate and condemnable.”
The Police Authorities informed the delegation that there were clear directions from the government no to allow GA Mir to visit Batagund Verinag and offer condolences to bereaved family of Malik, who police claimed was killed after decamping with AK Rifle from police Station Dooru, thereby creating an impression that he was killed in a retaliatory action.
PCC Chief also condemned the killing of Assadullah Kumar of Mandhole Qazigund yesterday and asked government to initiate a probe into this killing, so that the culprits behind this incident are identified for punishment.
Mir blamed PDP BJP Coalition for loss of lives and warned that killing of innocent people won’t be tolerated.
