Peace imperative for dialogue, development: Mehbooba

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Monday reiterated the resolve of her government to work on the twin objectives of development and dialogue for which she asked the people of Jammu & Kashmir to give peace a chance.

Interacting with people after kick-starting various developmental projects here today, Mehbooba said for achieving the objective of development and dialogue a congenial atmosphere of peace and tranquility needs to be created. She sought people’s cooperation in creating an environment conducive for development and dialogue.

Mehbooba according to spokesman said the people of Jammu & Kashmir have the huge responsibility to ensure a congenial and peaceful atmosphere in the state so that it has a soothing impact on the relations between the two neighboring countries which ultimately can pave the way for getting the State out of its difficulties.

Mehbooba regretted that every section of society suffered losses during the turmoil of past few months besides delaying the completion of many developmental projects in the state. She said the government has planned a huge developmental programme for the state and asked people to extend their cooperation in its successful implementation.

Responding to local demands, Mehbooba said she would explore the possibility of setting up a PHE division at Pulwama. She also said the bottlenecks coming in the way of upgradation of Prichoo Fruit Mandi would also be removed and in this regard she asked the district administration to work out modalities. She said the waiver on Kissan Credit Card loans upto Rs 1 lakh has already been announced by the Government and she would look into it if any eligible beneficiary has been left out.

Minister for finance, culture, labour & employment Dr Haseeb A Drabu and Minister for R&B, Abdul Rehman Veeri were present on the occasion.
