The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University (CUK) of Kashmir organised a book release and reading session on Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir was the chief guest at the event where the recently released book ‘Scattered Souls’ of DCJ faculty member Shahnaz Bashir was reviewed by Head, Department of English, Prof. Mohammad Aslam.
Besides, a Question & Answer session with the author was conducted by fellow faculty member Raashid Maqbool during which Shahnaz shared his experiences of telling the stories of people through creative writing.
On the occasion, Prof Mehraj also released the book ‘Media & Communication for Development’ by DCJ faculty member, Dr. John K Babu.
Prof Mehraj congratulated the authors for their feat and acknowledged the efforts of Department of Convergent Journalism. He called for more such creative endeavour and impressed upon the students to narrate stories they observe.
While reviewing ‘Scattered Souls’, Prof. Aslam applauded the efforts of the author in keeping up with the evolving English language. He said those who live in Kashmir could easily relate with the characters of the short stories to someone they personally know or have met at some point in their lives.
