A young boy from Sumbal area of Bandipora district has made his way into the literary world by receiving Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Puruskar Award to his book, ‘Zol Dith Sadras’.
The book is a collection of Kashmiri essays written in the genre of literary criticism.
Adil Mohi-ud-din, who is in Agartala to receive the award from Academy’s President Shri Vishvanathan Prasad Trivari, said, “There are some moments in life when words skip their essence and we fall short of expression. The occasion is one such moment. So pardon me if I mumble or stammer. As all of us know that today’s function organised by Sahitya Akademi New Delhi in the honour of young writers of the country who have been awarded with Yuva Puraskar. In this connection Aadil Mohi-ud-din too stand here before this galaxy of luminaries and feel privileged of being honored with an Award that holds its own distinction”.
I hope my nomination for this prestigious award inspires more Kashmiri youth to read and write in Kashmiri”, Aadil said.
Aadil Mohi-ud-din was born in Sumbal area of Bandipora district.
Aadil completed his schooling from a local school and joined Amar Singh College Srinagar from where he did his under-graduation.
Later he joined University of Kashmir and completed post-graduation and subsequently was enrolled for a PhD program.
He is currently doing research under the aegis of famous poet and scholar Professor Shad Ramzan. The rare accomplishment by Aadil has brought cheers to his relatives and friends.
This is just a beginning I will write much more in the future, Adil said.
Aadil’s critical write-ups, the collection of critical essays that have been collectively titled as “Zol DithSadras”(Pearls from the deep sea) is his first attempt in Kashmiri literary world for which he have been awarded with Yuva-Puraskar 2016 by the Akademi.
“The book is a collection of critical essays on variegated themes that range from critically analysing the intellectual personas of various prominent writers. My own essays on criticism and aesthetics form a part of the book,” Aadil said.
Governor N N Vohra has congratulated Adil Mohiuddin for winning Yuva Puruskar Award.
In a letter addressed to him, Vohra has wished him more success in the years yet to come. The book will be soon out in the market and will be available at the every book store in Srinagar city.
