Two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants who were killed in an army ambush in Kulgam district in southern part of Kashmir early Thursday were laid to rest.
Reports said that thousands of people including men and women participated in the funeral prayers of the slain.
Aaqib Itoo and Suhail Ahmad were killed in Gopalpora village of Kulgam after army opened fire during an ambush.
Local sources said that funeral prayers of Itoo were attended by thousands of people at his ancestral village Gopalpora.
Earlier people from adjoining areas marched to Gopalpora raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
A large number of people also participated in the funeral prayers of Suhail at his ancestral village Tantraypora, Yaripora before he was laid to rest.
Sources said that strict restrictions have been put in place in most areas of the Kulgam district by deploying extra para-military troopers to foil protests.
