BGSBU discusses emerging trends in communication technology, Zulfkar presides

RAJOURI: State’s Information minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today chaired a valedictory function organized to mark the culmination of a two-day workshop on “Emerging Trends: Innovations in Electronic and Communication Engineering (ETIECE-2017)”.

District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, and SSP Yougal Manhas were among the dignitaries attending the function at BGSBU here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister recapitulated thoughts and ideas behind the establishment of the University. He shared with the audience what was envisioned about the University and how the University is transforming into a beckon of academic excellence and innovation in the region.

He congratulated the University management for organizing the national level workshop which saw a huge participation of students and researchers from all over the country and involved dozens of paper and poster presentations.

Zulfkar said that the State Government is very optimistic about the University and the role it is playing in shaping careers of the region’s youth. He said the University will attract students across the borders once the environment turns conductive and there is a larger movement of people across the borders.

He called upon the students and faculty to focus on research and innovations and do away with conventional teaching learning methods. While acknowledging the achievements of the University, the Minister stressed that there is still a long way to go before the University can realize its full potential.

The Minister also informed that colleges in the State will be given liberty to choose their affiliation with universities in the State and that college in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch can get affiliated with the BGSBU.

Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Professor Javed Masarat, who presided over the function, informed the gathering on the occasion that the University is soon going to enter into a MoU with the IITs for possible collaborative research in the field. He added that the University will soon introduce post-graduation programmes in its engineering college.

Later, the Minister handed over citations and mementoes to the participants of ETIECE-2017. Malik Younis was given the best oral presentation award whereas Tahir Mohd Wani was awarded for best poster presentation.
