Railway authorities on Friday suspended rail services to Jammu due to the law and order situation in the neighbouring Haryana and Chandigarh.
All trains to and from Jammu were suspended on Friday over security concerns after CBI court convicted Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in rape case of 2002.
The verdict enraged followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram who went on a rampage after the CBI court held the leader guilty in the 2002 rape case which alleged that he sexually assaulted two of his women followers in his Haryana headquarter.
As per reports there has been a total blackout in Haryana since the court’s verdict in Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s conviction.
According to media reports, Dera Sacha Sauda supporters have turned violent burning government offices and railway station. In some places the mob eve attacked the media vehicles damaging three OB vans.
A few journalists were injured in the attack, witnesses said. Cameras of photo-journalists and TV cameramen were damaged by the sect followers. Stone pelting and torching vehicles have also been reported from the area. Curfew has been clamped in three cities of Punjab namely Bhatinda, Mansa and Ferozepur.
Meanwhile, former JK CM, Omar Abdullah took to twitter and questioned whether chilli bombs, pepper grenades and pellet guns were for protesting Kashmiris only?
In a tweet he said: “Chilli Bombs? Pepper grenades? Pellet guns? Do the forces keep those only for protesting Kashmiris?
