Srinagar
Government on Saturday suspended internet services in Pulwama district soon after the militants carried out a ‘Fidayeen’ attack on district police lines.
Official sources said that fearing protests, internet services have been suspended temporarily.
As reported earlier a policeman was killed and six others were injured in a militant attack at district police lines in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.
In the predawn attack, at least three heavy armed attackers stormed the police lines where hundreds of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel are stationed, police said.
After forcing their entry into the police lines building, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing and lobbed grenades. One policeman was killed and six others including 3 CRPF personnel were injured, they said.
Officials said they are evacuating people from the building where militants are holed up and also adjacent buildings before they start a flush out operation.
Initial reports suggest, militants are firing from a three storied police building and many policemen are trapped there.
