A disaster management workshop was conducted in Sher-i- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura on Thursday by department of hospital administration.
The programme was aimed at reviewing the disaster preparedness and formulating a holistic approach towards its response. The inaugural session was addressed by Director SKIMS Prof A.G Ahanger, Medical superintendent and HOD hospital administration Prof Syed Amin Tabish, Dean Medical Faculty Prof Altaf Kirmani, Joint MS Skims and organizing Secretary of Programme Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan. All these dignitaries laid emphasis on multidisciplinary approach towards managing disasters.
The programme saw the participation of various eminent personalities with in outside skims, which include Dr G.M.Dar (Head Disaster Management IMPA) who spoke on Disaster Vulnerability and Hospital Safety and Mr Mohd Akbar Dar (Deputy Director Fire Services) who spoke on fire safety in hospitals. Besides these Prof. Altaf Ramzan (HOD Neurosurgery) Spoke on managing polytraumas, Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan (Joint MS) on Hospital Evacuation protocol and Nighat Ara From Nursing side spoke on role of nurses in disasters.
The Programme was conducted by eminent chairpersons from SKIMS Soura. Faculty members, resident doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of SKIMS participated in the workshop.
The programme was concluded by organizing Secretary Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan by Vote Of Thanks.
