Clashes erupt at Sugan in Shopain as forces lay siege to the village

Clashes erupted between civilian protestors and forces in Sugan area of Shopian district on Wednesday afternoon after the forces laid siege to the village.

Sources said as the forces started cordon and search operation in the area, people shouted pro-freedom slogans and pelted stones on the forces, triggering clashes.

“The forces smashed windowpanes and glasses of houses in the village. Some civilians were also thrashed,” the residents alleged.

Clashes in the area were going on when reports last came in.
