SRINAGAR: The Government Higher Secondary School in Izmarg, located in the Gurez region of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, is currently grappling with a lecturer shortage, as students voiced their grievances on Saturday.
According to students who spoke with local news agency KNO, this issue emerged after the transfer of several lecturers from the school approximately a month ago. This situation has left both students and local residents apprehensive about the quality of education.
Ishfaq Ahmad, a local student, expressed his concerns, stating, “We are anxious about our studies. The shortage of teachers is impacting our education. We hope that the authorities take notice and promptly provide the necessary teaching staff.”
He added that the lack of lecturers has resulted in larger class sizes and increased workloads for the remaining teaching staff, making it difficult to maintain the school’s established educational standards.
“Educational excellence is fundamental to any society. The shortage of lecturers at our school is a setback. We urge the government to consider the long-term consequences for our youth and swiftly appoint new lecturers,” said Ghulam Ahmad, a local resident.
He also mentioned that the transfer of lecturers has created uncertainty among students and parents who are worried about the potential impact on their education.
Local residents and students are calling upon Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, to expedite the appointment of new lecturers to fill the vacant positions, ensuring uninterrupted learning for the students. Meanwhile, an official has stated that he will investigate the matter. (KNO)
