In its report, Comptroller and Auditor General of India has revealed that previous government led by Omar Abdullah deprived the state of intended benefits by leaving major developmental projects in lurch.
Talking about the ‘inefficient’ National Conference and Congress led previous government in Jammu and Kashmir the CAG in its report has disclosed that as many as 267 development projects were left incomplete by Omar Abdullah Government.
Out of the 267 projects, according to the report, 194 incomplete projects with a sanctioned cost of Rs 651.92 Crore and revised cost of Rs 661.27 Crore belonged to Public Works Department (PWD), which spent Rs 487.36 Crore on these projects.
The remaining 71 projects which belonged to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 782.33 Crore and the revised cost of Rs 809.20 Crore, were delayed even after spending Rs 324.87 Crore on them.
The CAG report, according to CNS, says that these incomplete projects had a total sanctioned cost of Rs 1458.25 Crore which was revised to Rs 1497.07 Crore. An amount of Rs 832.44 Crore has already been spent on these incomplete projects by March 31, 2014.
The CAG report adds that these projects took off during Omar Abdullah’s Government should have been completed during his tenure only. “The half-done projects have deprived the state of intended benefits,” the report added.
