A fresh batch of 56 aspiring entrepreneurs including six girls Thursday passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing the three-week Entreprenurship Development Programme (EDP).
The batch comprising of young educated boys and girls were trained under self employment component of Himayat scheme, a “path breaking” initiative of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and implemented by JKEDI. Himayat is aimed at providing entrepreneurial skills for sustainable livelihood to youth of J&K and facilitate access to finance services.
The EDP started on 6th August at Pampore campus of the institute and was training program was modeled for manufacturing and services sector and the aspiring entrepreneurs have chosen innovative activities to start their entrepreneurial journey.
“I have previous experience of business but with this type of pro-active and practical participatory method of training, I have developed self belief and a vision,” says Mushtaq Ahmad Ahanger, an aspiring entrepreneur.
As part of training programme the participants hailing from different districts of Kashmir valley were deputed for field visits and market survey as well.
Another entrepreneur Rumaisa said, “I am indebted to JKEDI for giving me an opportunity to be part of the training programme. Today I am feeling confident that I would be financially independent in future.”
The three week EDP was aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific, and self-development training to the aspiring entrepreneurs. The trained youth will now be provided financial linkage to help them start their business ventures.
The programme was a part of the institute’s mission to foster entrepreneurial culture, where in the JKEDI is committed to provide both financial as well as non-financial assistance to the educated unemployed youth of the State.
