MLA Langate Er Rashid Sunday asked New Delhi not to disgrace and humiliate Kashmiris over every issue and stressed PDP and NC to show a united face at least on issues pertaining to governance and seeking resolution to the political aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion Rashid said, “although every town and hamlet in State has suffered worst during last 25 years but the people of Shopian have on and often offered stiff and tough resistance to the highhandedness of state apparatus. It is government of India whose arrogant and unrealistic attitude is pushing youth of Kashmir towards radicalisation. Had government of India shown a bit of sincerity during last 25 years in resolving the burning issue of Jammu & Kashmir, Situation would have been all together different. Kashmiris don’t have a hobby of carrying out processions and taking out to streets but they have no option as New-Delhi has been constantly creating confusion in Kashmir and misleading the world community.”
“There is every reason why IIT, IIM and IIMC should be established in Kashmir as who doesn’t know how difficult it is for Kashmiri students to study in institutions outside the Valley as every time there are huge apprehensions about their security and well being due to the fact that radical elements in every part of India leave no stone unturned to disgrace and harm Kashmiri students,” he said. “However,” he added, “all Unionist parties, lawyers, transporters and Hurriyat factions need to understand the significance of establishing these institutions and there has to be a broad based consensus among these political social organisations to force New Delhi to agree to the genuine demand.”
Rashid expressed his deep satisfaction over the response of the participants over the issue.
