Tral shuts on CM’s visit, PDP rally stoned at Nishat

As a mark of protest, people in South Kashmir’s Tral town observed complete shutdown on the visit of Chief Minister to the town. Meanwhile, in Brein Nishat, unidentified persons damaged various vehicles of People’s Democratic Party after they attacked them with stones.


According to CNS, heavy security arrangements were put in order as the Chief Minister visited the South Kashmir’s Tral town. A day before the visit, police and CRPF personnel were deployed on roads and search operations were launched in different areas including Asthanmohalla, Lurgam, Aarigam and Lalgam.


People observed complete shutdown and all the shops and business establishments remained closed while transport was off the road. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was supposed to address a rally at Bajwani Tral, however due to inclement weather; the venue was shifted to Town Hall Tral where according to reports a thin crowd was present.


Meanwhile, unknown persons pelted stones on PDP supporters and vehicles at Brein Nishat in Srinagar when Tariq Hamid Karra was addressing the people.


Eyewitnesses told CNS that PDP had organized a road show in Nishat and its surrounding areas. PDP candidate for Parliament Tariq Hamid Kara and District President Srinagar Muhammad Ashraf Mir addressed people. Reports said that as Karra was busy in addressing people outside Jamia Masjid Breing, some unknown people started pelting stones on the PDP supporters who ran for cover. Amid chaos, various PDP vehicles suffered damages and the leaders and supporters retreated from the place without offering any resistance.


When contacted Tariq Hamid Karra told CNS that few National Conference workers pelted few stones on the rally and police later identified them. “I did not stop there and proceeded on wards to address the people. National Conference supporters and leaders have been engulfed by frustration and they know their end is near,” he said.
