Castigating PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for blaming NC for Sarpanch killings, National Conference senior leader and Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Muhammad Sagar Wednesday said that at least four thousand workers and leaders of NC have been targeted by militants in Kashmir. “It were militants who helped PDP to gain power in 2002 and the same party crushed all those militants after assuming power in the State,” Sagar said.

He admitted that in wake of threat perception village heads are announcing their resignations through different means. He told CNS that Village Heads fear for their lives after the three civilians were killed in cold blood by unidentified gun-men.

Sagar said that though village heads have declared their resignations but officially no resignation letter has been received by any Block Development Officer.

“Whosoever is responsible for the innocent killings are not human-beings and their inhuman acts are not going to help them,” Sagar said adding that these killers would soon face the wrath from the public. “People are scared but the government would ensure their safety and security,” Sagar said.
