Polling Has A Modest Start In South

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Amid separatist sponsored strike and massive deployments reported from the four district making south Kashmir Lok Sabha constituency, the poling has had a modest start. Given the situation all the polling stations in the constituency were declared hyper-sensitive on the eve of polling.

An official spokesman here said only 0.22 percent voters had come out in Pulwama. Neighbouring Shopian has recorded polling 2.62 percent till 9 am.

However, the twin districts of Islamabad and Kulgam had performed better. The poll percentage at 9 am was 6.36 percent for Islamabad and 6.20 percent for Kulgam.
