Accused in Masheer-ul-Haq murderer case arrested after 24 years: Police

SRINAGAR


Police on Monday evening claimed that they arrested the accused involved in the murder former Kashmir University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Masheer-ul-Haq.


Police said that the accused was absconding since April 6, 1990.


Police said that they generated a specific intelligence regarding Hilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Naid Doori accused in the murder case of Prof. Musheer-ul-Haq. The case was investigated by CBI.


“The accused was evading arrest and was declared an absconder in the murder case,” police said.


Police said that on specific information regarding his presence in the jurisdiction of Police Station Zadibal, the accused was apprehended by Srinagar police.


The accused was later produced before the CJM Srinagar for further legal disposal.
