Kashmir Transport Welfare Association Says No Transport Strike on Tuesday

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (KTWA), the joint platform of various transport associations in the valley, has stated that there will be no transport strike in Kashmir on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The General Secretary of Kashmir Transport Welfare Association, Sheikh Mohammad Yusuf, said that little Known transport associations are propagandizing on social media that the recently proposed Hit and Run law is against the transporters.

“The Association isn’t observing any strike for now. There is no strike call of the Association on the lines given by the other association (All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation),” Sheikh said.

“Soon after we came to know about the stance by All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation, our Association office-bearers assembled here in Srinagar to take a stand in the matter. After a threadbare discussion the Association unanimously decided not to observe any strike at least starting from tomorrow,” KTWA Gen Secretary said.

He added that KTWA is representing entire of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, while All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederationl is limited to Kashmir only. “We feel going for strike call for now is totally uncalled for.”

“What is the logic for Kashmir transporters to observe the strike while the other division Jammu has no such plans. This to me won’t serve any purpose,” he said.

Additionally, he pleaded with the transporters to continue operating the service on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and not to fall to misinformation. (GNS)
