SRINAGAR: An encounter was reported in Chotigam, a village in Shopian, during the night. A police spokesman said the police, paramilitary and the army are “on the job”.
The village is accessible from various roads and is located within 2 km of an army camp. No more details were immediately available.

The Chotigam encounter came two days after a gunfight erupted between security forces and militants at Hadigam village in Kulgam district. Reports appearing in the media suggest the two militants trapped in Chotigam had escaped from the Kulgam cordon.
