SRINAGAR: Just one day of rainfall has transformed Srinagar’s iconic Boulevard road into a virtual waterway, causing significant inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters alike.
The news agency KNO received numerous calls and videos from citizens highlighting waterlogging along the famous stretch, particularly between Ghat No 2 and several other points.
Residents reported that vehicles are struggling to navigate through the flooded road, while pedestrians are forced to wade through ankle-deep water, making it difficult and unsafe to use the pathway.
The situation has raised concerns among residents and tourists alike, questioning the city’s preparedness to handle such weather conditions.
“It’s shocking to see the state of Boulevard road after just one day of rain,” said Suhail, a local resident.
He added that the road is a major tourist attraction, and it’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful spots in the city, but the waterlogging makes it look terrible and creates a significant safety hazard for everyone.
Another resident expressing concerns about the lack of proper drainage systems in the city said, this is a recurring problem whenever it rains heavily, the water has nowhere to go, so it accumulates on the roads and streets, causing chaos, and the authorities need to take immediate action to improve the drainage system to avoid such situations in the future.
Meanwhile, officials, when contacted, told KNO that a team will be dispatched soon to the spot, and the water will be drained off from the road.
