SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Monday that Basant Rath, an IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, will remain suspended for an additional 180 days beyond , July 31, 2023.
In an official order, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the Central Review Committee thoroughly considered the facts and circumstances of the case and recommended extending Basant Rath’s suspension tenure for an additional 180 days until January 27, 2024, beyond the initial suspension period ending on July 31, 2023.
The order issued by the MHA stated, “And now, therefore, the President orders that Shri Basant Kumar Rath, IPS (AGMUT: 2000), shall continue under the period of suspension for a further 180 days beyond 31.07.2023, i.e., until 27.01.2024, in terms of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969.”
The IPS officer was initially placed under suspension on July 8, 2020, as disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against him.
