Centre to deploy additional 100 companies of CAPF in Kashmir

Srinagar

Union Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the sanction for deployment of 100 additional companies of central armed forces in Kashmir in a bid to strengthen the counter insurgency grid and to maintain law and order situation, an official order that has gone viral on the social networking sites, reads an order issued by MHA.

“Out of 100, 50 companies will be deployed from the CRPF, followed by 10 from BSF, 30 from SSB and 10 from ITBP,” reads the order.

This development comes just a few days after National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visited Kashmir to review the security arrangements where he had meetings with top officers of security forces and intelligence officers in Srinagar, Times now reported.

Official sources said Doval was accompanied by Chief of all intelligence agencies.

Reports said that rumours are rife that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government is likely to scrap Articles 370 and 35A within the first 100 days of its governance.

Reacting over this issue, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: “It’s surprising, to say the least, that instead of calming tempers and reassuring people in the Valley, a large section of the administration is busy trying to scare people to expect massive unrest and trouble after August 15.”
