Sherbibi accident: Families reject police claims, say, ‘slain duo murdered’

Srinagar: The families of the driver and conductor who were killed, according to police, by a trailer truck on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Sherbibi Banihal late last night, have denied the police claims.

The driver was identified as Abdul Gani Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Dooru Islamabad and his conductor Mudasir Ahmad Rather son of Farooq Ahmad Rather resident of Watihal Kurigam Qazigund.

They alleged that the slain were not killed in the accident as reported by the Police. “It is a deliberate act of other Hindu drivers, who fought with them and in a fit of rage killed both of them.”

They said that they got a call from police at around 12:30 am. “After we reached to the spot, there was no trace of any accident at the spot.”  They alleged that it is a case of murder.

The family members alleged that there is not a single trace of accident on the truck, the duo was travelling in except some stains of blood.

The families including the locals of Kreeri Dooru village in Islamabad hit the streets demanding justice. They hampered the traffic movement for hours.
