PM Modi’s first Kashmir visit triggers shutdown, restrictions

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Amidst complete shutdown authorities on Friday imposed strict restrictions in Srinagar on the eve of PM Modi’s visit and people are not allowed to move freely in any part of the city.

Old City people in particular woke up to siege as heavy deployment of police and paramilitary CRPF was deployed in the congested areas.

Concertina wire sealed the main roads while people were asked to stay indoors. “It’s a curfew like situation here,” a local said.

Some parts of City centre along Maisuma are also under siege. According to sources authorities last evening decided to impose restrictions in Srinagar areas.

Reports said that Shiv Pora and Sonawar localities are also under siege and nobody is allowed to venture out on the main road even as heavy deployment of police and paramilitary CRPF have cordoned off the area.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the whole valley on the call of separatists.
