Camped in Pratap Park, forestry graduates press for ReJ

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Jobless forestry graduates staged peaceful protest for the seventh consecutive on Saturday in favour of their demands. These graduates have been camping in Pratap Park Srinagar from past week but till date, according to them no official from the government or any political leader visited them.

“We have been waiting for the implementation of Rehbar-e-Janglat (ReJ) policy that was devised by previous Cong-PDP coalition government. Despite assurances given by the government from time to time, nothing changed on ground level,” one of the unemployed forest graduates said adding that they have no option but to take extreme steps in case government disappoints them.

The protestors added that they completed their degrees in 2004 while the government assured them that they will be absorbed under ReJ scheme on ReT pattern, but all the assurances proved lip service.

These graduates said that they are pinning all their hopes on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and are sure that he would address their problems. (CNS)
